If Rusty falls in battle:
As darkness claims you, the chaos of battle fades away. You find yourself on the side of the road surrounded by hundreds of frighted and tired people. In front of you sits Malsavig, as he looked in the last few days of your acquaintance, emaciated, disheveled, exhausted.
He croaks out a question, his voice diminished by his fatigue. “Are you sure you want this?”
You hear yourself answering “I have to help you. My own call is pulling me away from you. Once we are done with our work, I will head toward the calling, but for now, I need a clear head to continue assisting you with your task. I will have them remove it when I reach my own destination”
Malsavig nods and shuffles around to stand behind you. You feel him open something in the back of your head, some kind of hinged panel. He places something inside your head. You can feel the weight of it.
The vision fades, and you awaken on the battlefield.
If he tries to feel around at the back of his skull, he will find the panel. A DC 14 slight of hand will pop it open, and panel door will drop into his hands. Inside the small opening revealed he will find a glowing pearl of ectoplasm which will evaporate in the open air over the next several moments. Once the pearl dissapears Rusty will start having visions relating to his long forgotten deity.
On the inside of the panel itself are etched several corroded markings that upon closer investigation appear to be letters. You think you can make out:
Valoroc Ver one
Rusty is referred to as Valoroc Verone (Vigilant Autonomous Legionnaire of Radiance). The OC is his unique designation. The Verone is the name of the Minor Deity known as Verone.
